CodeSchool Participation
There is ever-increasing crossover between the fields of librarianship and information technology. As such, it is becoming more and more important for librarians to have the ability to read, understand, and even write different programming languages. In order to continue being a driver of library innovation, PALNI purchases a set number of annual subscriptions to Code School (https://www.codeschool.com/) allowing a group of PALNI librarians to access training courses in HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Ruby, and numerous other programming languages and libraries.
Requirements and Considerations:
- Attendance at periodic web meetings to discuss progress and collaborative opportunities
- Time required to complete the Code School courses
- Director approval and support for additional time commitments is desired, but not required. Participants without approval to use work time for the courses will be expected to complete the courses during their personal time.
- Participants should be interested in learning the languages/skills offered by Code School (https://www.codeschool.com/courses) and collaborating with other PALNI libraries/librarians to apply the newly acquired knowledge.
Application Process: A callout for registration occurs a month or two before the start of each semester. Be on the lookout for the call on the Hub.
